Extensive foundation build for upcoming Aquatic & Leisure Facility has commenced with the first major concrete pour.
The Metro Sports Facility is set to be New Zealand's Largest Leisure and sports recreation facility. The $300 million central city project is being built by CPB Contractors and will attract thousands of people into the city for sporting events, competitive swimming and daily leisure for the all public.
The project has finally kicked off with the first extensive concrete pour last week. About 1,100 cubic metres of concrete from 200 trucks was poured on site. Our team of Civil Formworkers are underway and busy forming concrete, steel tying and getting the Metro Sports 'foundation base' ready.
Once the foundation has been completed, people travelling along Moorhouse Avenue will start to see structural steel being erected forming the skeleton of this grand building in the early months of 2020.
CPB Contractors is the Australasian construction company of the CIMIC Group. They are currently working on the Metro Sports Facility and various sites in New Zealand within the Civil and Commercial Sector.
They are working on projects such as Waikeria Prison, Christchurch Convention Centre and North Island Motorway projects. They have completed the relocation and co-location of Shirley Boys’ High School and Avonside Girls’ High School in Christchurch in a joint venture with Southbase Construction and are nearing completion and opening of the Christchurch Hospital Hagley.
We are extremely proud and grateful to be part of such an important commercial build for Canterbury.
Thank you CPB Contractors for the opportunity to work on this project and for the continuous relationship!
