Welcome back and Happy New Year!
Trust you all had an enjoyable Christmas and New Years with heaps of food and maybe a glass or three of your favourite beverage thrown in to wash it all down.
Welcome to 2020! A new year, positive attitudes, awesome work mates, long summer nights and BBQ's. Life is good!
2019 was fairly safe for most of us, couple of minor bumps and bruises but overall we came through healthy and reasonably unscathed. Your efforts are very much appreciated!!!
Keep up the winning ways team.
Tips to work safety
- Understand the risks - once you know the particular hazards of the task and the worksite, you can take steps to reduce the risk of work-related injuries or illnesses.
- Use mechanical aids whenever possible - instead of trying to lift or carry a heavy object, use a wheelbarrow, crane, forklift or ask someone to give you a hand.
- Protect your back - if you do need to pick up and carry heavy loads, keep the load close to your body and lift with your thigh muscles.
- Wear protective equipment to suit the task - if worn correctly, gear such as earplugs, earmuffs, hard hat, safety goggles, gloves or full-face mask can dramatically reduce the risk of injury.
- Stay sober - alcohol and drugs are a contributing factor in around three per cent of workplace fatalities.
- Talk over any concerns - discuss hazards or work methods with your foreman or manager.
- Don't bottle it up - others are always ready to listen to what you have to say. Speak up don't keep it in
- Check your equipment - handtools or powertools, give it a once over. Better to be safe than sorry.
Lastly, remember to smile it's good for the mind and the soul.
Remember team! Safety is just how we do things around here.
